Registration for the All-Around and Forms & Board Breaking (combined event) already includes 2 breaking boards. If your competitor would like to attempt to break more than 2 boards you may purchase them here online, or at the tournament (cash only). Each 1/4” breaking board is $4 each. Please ask your Master how many boards you should attempt to break.

Teens and Adults (age 14+) are limited to a total of 3 boards. Children (age 5-13) may break up-to 10 boards. Be sure to read the rules below to fully understand the board breaking event.

Board Breaking (Ages 5-13): Rules & Scoring

  1. Each belt level must complete a specific board breaking technique.

    1. White: Pushing Kick, left & right foot

    2. Yellow-High Green: Side Kick, left & right foot

    3. Blue-Advanced Blue: Back Kick, left & right foot

    4. Red-Danbo: Spinning Heel Kick, left & right foot

    5. All Black Belts: Spinning Heel Kick & Flying Side Kick, using either foot

  2. With the 2 kicks students will try to break the most boards possible, with a max. total of 5 boards a kick (boards will be stacked), and only 2 chances. 

  3. Points: +2 pt. for each cleanly broken board on the 1st try; +1 pt. for each cleanly broken board on the 2nd try.

Demo Board Breaking (Ages 14-Adult): Rules

  1. Competitors must bring their own board holder(s)!

  2. All belt levels attempt up to 3 different kicks/stations.

  3. Limited to a single board for each kick, for a maximum total of 3 boards.

  4. This is a free style event judged on execution (only 2 attempts per board), timing, kihap, connections between breaking skills, difficulty, and presentation.
